Charming book that brings a smile! "Now you know what makes a rainbow: RAIN, COLORS--red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and SUNSHINE!" I like the way they suggested they ask others; this shows parents that sometimes it is best to allow your child to answer his/her *own* questions instead of telling them the answers--Stimulate their Imagination and Inquisitiveness! We can learn SO MUCH from others. I love the way this concept shines throughout the story. Great job all around Heiss, Stewart and Cofrancesco--now THIS is Teamwork!
The tale is very simple and charming, and the illustrations are great, so that kids of all ages will love it. I highly recommend this book for any boy or girl.

This is a great book for kids. If you want them to get an edge on science at an early edge, buy it! Thanks to the authors for producing such an educationally sound book!!
This is a great read for kids. Every school library should have this book. The book teaches about working together and respect for each other. It also gets a young child thinking what would we do with out the color green. I have shown my grandchildren the rainbows coming in the house through front door. They so enjoyed this book. Thank you so much to the Authors for this book. If you want to see other Great books by Renee Heiss go to www.entelechyed.com and www.characterpublishing.org
I won this book on Goodreads. My thoughts
Where's green would make an good addition to elementary school libraries. A K-5 STEM literacy book is a brilliant idea. This story follows three characters Ellie an electron, Priti a proton and Ning a neutron. The three end up on an adventure when the color green goes missing. The story teaches about critical thinking, colors of the prism, nature, rainbows, being mindful of others feelings and cooperation.
The book contains a small glossary, web sites for activities and games. What's the Matter comes out Summer 2013 and Oxygen Finds Friends in Fall 2013. It's wonderful to read about a series of books designed to foster STEM education in kids, especially to peak their interest in elementary school.
The three main characters in this book are Priti a proton, Ning a neuton and Ellie an electron.
One day, their world looks different, why, what has happened? Then they discover the reason, green is missing! Where could it have gone? It's Priti, Ning and Ellie's task to find out what has happened, and why. Eventually they decide to ask the primary colours if they know where green could have gone, and the truth transpires.
Through an engaging story, children start to learn in an easily absorbed manner about science, nature, primary colours, how rainbows are made and prisms. The back pages contain the EnteleLab, web site links for activities and idea's for a game. However, there is much more to this book, woven in the pages are important life lessons, about working together, respect for others, and our place in the universe.
This is a bright, cleverly thought out book, beautifully illustrated and appealing to children. I wish it had been out when my children were young!
'Where's Green?' introduces us to three EnteleTrons Ellie - the electron, Priti - the Proton and Ning - the Neutron. And in tune with the typical characteristics of these particles, Ellie is always looking for ways to make connections and sometimes ends up making mistakes too. Priti, the Proton brings positivity to everything around her. She is a loving character taking strength from her positive outlook towards people and life in general. Many times she gently nudges Ellie to correct her mistakes too. Finally the mediator, the most neutral character is the Ning. He is the one looking to solve problems and to work on challenges. He is an expert in using various devices that are available in their EnteleLab.
The author has very intelligently chosen the names for these significant particles highlighting the essence of their personalities . The name Ellie is of Greek origin meaning Light, name Priti is Indian and means love and Ning is of Chinese origin which means peaceful.
This time all three of them are trying to investigate the reason for the green color to be missing from the plants, trees and even from the rainbow. They decide to question the primary colors first for the reason behind the disappearance of green color from among them. They come to know that the bickering of all the rest of the colors annoyed the calm green color to such an extent that it decided to leave the group.
Thanks to Ellie, Priti and Ning, the rainbow colors realize their folly and agree that the natural order was indeed the best way to be. This appeased the green color too and it wooshed back at its rightful place.
A colorful book for young readers and a step towards starting them early on the concepts of science in a fun and light way. The rainbow colors, the three particles of matter, the prism, separation of visible light and many other things are introduced in a very simple manner through an interesting tale. Moreover, the life lesson of working together and in unison is also conveyed beautifully here. The after notes written by the author are worth mentioning too - "When you read about the EnteleTrons and their adventures, think about how tiny they are in size, but how huge they are in their effect on the universe. You can be just like the EnteleTrons. Think about how you can make a huge difference in other people's lives too."
